When you restore a upgraded windows 7 comp back to factory settings, does it go back to vista?

i have a compac desktop. i bought it preloaded with vista, but upgraded it to windows 7. now i want to get rid of a virus and turn it back to factory settings via recovery disks made from vista. how do i change the operating system back to windows 7 after restoreing to factory settings???? the upgrade cds again????When you restore a upgraded windows 7 comp back to factory settings, does it go back to vista?
