3g iPhone somehow loaded Windows Mobile 6.1 as its replacement OS?!? iTunes won't even recognize device...?

I don't know much about iPhones, but I am savvy with electronics so I was trying to help a friend and when I plugged in his iPhone is CHANGED OPERATING SYSTEMS?!? It now thinks it is an HTC and is running Windows Mobile 6.1. It seems iTunes will restore the iPhone except for some reason iTunes doesn't even recognize the device. When I plug it in via USB it just opens an explorer folder and doesn't show in iTunes (iTunes is up to date). Also, holding sleep and home will power cycle the phone and the apple icon appears, but then the device still loads the Windows OS. If anyone has any suggestions of how to restore the device to factory or get the previous operating system back we'd appreciate the help...

I agree that he's probably got an iClone. To prove it, go to Settings%26gt;General%26gt;Reset%26gt;Reset all Settings. A real iPhone will go back to its factory settings - and that will not be Windows Mobile.3g iPhone somehow loaded Windows Mobile 6.1 as its replacement OS?!? iTunes won%26039;t even recognize device...?
There's really no way an apple iPhone could run windows mobile.

I think that your friend bought an chinese iPhone clone that runs windows mobile, because i have seen iPhone clones that run it.
