How will I switch my OS back to windows?

I am thinking of changing my Operating system on my PC just to try something new. I am thinking of using Linux, Ubuntu, or Chrome OS when it is released to the public. I don't know how to put Windows Vista back on my PC if i decide i dont like the new OS. Please tell me how i will put Windows back on without screwing it up. Do i lose my registration and stuff like that if i take it off?How will I switch my OS back to windows?
Yes, you can put the windows back as the OS on your computer simply by installing it again from the installation media / Recovery disk that you must've got with your computer and that does NOT have you to loose you windows registration as long as the unique product key is with you (nevermind if you have a branded machine as it have its OEM key installed within). The key is linked to the hardware and will remain valid for as long as you dont change your hardware (motherboard in particular)

BUT

I'd recommend to partition your HDD to make atleast 10GiB of empty space on it so as to be able to install new OSes when they come out to check if it suit your tastes and that too without hampering your existing windows installation (Yes,you can have more than one OS in your system at the same time) .

I do the same and I'm very happy with this configuration.

Hope this helps. How will I switch my OS back to windows?
Generally it requires just the Vista disc. You can use it to format and reinstall over other OSs.

For Vista that was preinstalled with your system, you may need to call Microsoft during the activation process to reactivate your machine. How will I switch my OS back to windows?
you have to do back up so that you can re install it back otherwise you must have the original installerHow will I switch my OS back to windows?
Starting off with this. You will most likely lose your registration to windows vista unless you buy a new one.

You can install and new OS by downloading the ISO file from the provider and burning it onto a DVD as an ISO file using a program similiar to Active ISO.

This will erase everything on your harddrive and even the files that will be needed to restore the computer back. That's what happen to me. I cant restore my computer back with the default CD that the computer came with.

Don't try the chrome OS if your computer is not a netbook. The chrome OS is meant for a netbook. It only supports solid state drives and its basically all based on the internet. I say back up all your files to an external hard drive. Make sure you have your windows CD. Then you should be able to change back to the windows when ever.
