How can I restore a program after changing my operating system?

Last week I sent my laptop to be repaired because the wireless wasn't working, but when i got it back, they had upgraded my Laptop from windows vista to windows 7, which is ok.

The Problem is everything was erased. They backed-up my documents, music, pictures, etc. But they erased all the programs. That wasn't too much of a problem either, since I can re-download all of them, but when the programs and games were deleted, a savefile from a game was deleted as well.

I really wnt to get it back, so I searched for a program that could help me, but all the *data recovery* programs ive tried only find deleted pictures and documents, but not programs and games.

So I really need help on what to do.

And no, I CANNOT use system restore because it wont let me restore my computer to before I got the new operating system.

Thanks in advance, i really hope you can help me out.How can I restore a program after changing my operating system?
LoverOfWine is right, you not only got bad service you most likely have a pirated version of Windows 7. Shops just don't give that away free. Hopefully they charged you for it and if so you should have the disk and the product key. If not, you can bet it is pirated and will cause you grief in the long run.

No IT shop worth it's stuff is going to do a shoddy job as this. hey , I now people who will do for free a better job than these guys did. I think it is safe to say that they don't know what they are doing. Either that or you just asked them to upgrade your system, which I don't think you did from what you have written.

Bottom line if you take you laptop in to get the wireless fixed you should NOT have to have your OS replaced nor should you loose all your software. Very, very unprofessional. Have them fix it or if indeed your Windows 7 is pirated report them to Microsoft. Microsoft will make sure they don't do that again.

Go back to the store and tell them to install it for you. They shouldn't have done that or at least did an upgrade or backed all of your stuff.

What they did was not legal for them to do and they shouldn't have done it w/o your permission. It is very bad service.

They could have just upgraded your system and you wouldn't have lost anything.
