Changing the Operating System on same hard drive? ?

right now i have a hard drive with some old Linux OS on it, however, i just got Windows XP sp3 and would like to erase everything and put the windows on...

how do i do that?

it is a Quantum Hard Drive.Changing the Operating System on same hard drive? ?
Boot the computer from the Windows XP SP3 installation CD that you just got.

During the installation process, you will be given the opportunity to repartition the hard drive.

(NOTE: After partitioning, you may need to reboot from the CD in order to make the first partition that you create during the repartitioning process to be enumerated as partition C:\. This is because Windows XP SP3 won't recognize any Linux-specific partition-types of the partitions that exist on the drive. So the CD drive may be enumerated as drive C:\ during the first Windows installation CD session.)

When you have worked out the partition enumeration to your liking, you can continue with the installation of Windows XP from the CD.

The installation proceeds with very little user interaction. If you installed a GNU/Linux distribution, you can certainly install Microsoft Windows XP.
