You know what is sad? Not people like you that asking how to do something as stupid as this but the people that actually providing the help on how to do it!. BSOD is right there is nothing wrong with yahoo messenger on Vista and this is definitely not a reason to do something as stupid as this.Provide the error message or what happens when you trying to install yahoo to get help.

@CEN....if someone ask you some ways he can kill himself I guess you have to provide help on what he is asking since he made his decision! Your job as an %26quot;expert%26quot; is to illuminate confused people like the one in this question. How can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?
Just install XP.

Boot from your XP installation disc and follow the onscreen instructions. If you had a particular problem when you tried to install XP, I'd be happy to try to help you, but you didn't mention any specific problems.

According to a Google search I just did though, Yahoo! Messenger does run on Vista. I've never used the program, so I can't confirm that from personal experience though, but I imagine such a popular program as that would, indeed, have a version that works on Vista.

EDIT: ikaros, if OP wants to install XP, OP wants to install XP and I think we should do everything we can to help OP. I agree as much as the next person that installing XP merely because he/she got a misleading error message is akin to trying to kill a housefly with a cannon (ie. total overkill), but OP has made his/her wishes clear. If OP asked for help with an Atari 2600, I doubt anybody would criticize him/her for using old technology.

People choose to use whatever operating system they want to use for their own reasons. Sometimes those reasons may seem frivolous to others, but to the user him/herself, perhaps they're sufficient. How can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?
Just put a Windows XP CD in your CD Drive and restart your PC

You will be asked either to boot from CD (XP) or from Hard disk (Vista)

Choose Boot from CD

Follow the steps, your computer will then be formatted and XP will be installed

you can't overwrite XP on Vista.. so for that you have to remove vista from your system, then have to install XP using bootable cd %26amp; if you want vista also, so for that...after installing XP, you can add vista in another drive of your system %26amp; can make dual boot system...any person of computer field can help you to get this done. but but but....plz ensure to back up your drivers of motherboard. you will have to install them on XP again or you can download from the company site also. hope you get some info. from my answer. bye. tcHow can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?
First, you have to obtain a liscensed copy of XP (you might consider getting Windows 7, but I haven't tried it yet.) Insert the Windows XP disk in your CD/DVD drive. It should start automatically. When it gets to the point where your options appear, choose %26quot;Format Hard Drive%26quot;. Note, this option will erase your hard drive, so be sure to back up all personal files and data before starting. Once the hard drive is formatted (this will take some time depending on the size of the drive) continue on using the install wizard to install Windows XP. Once completed, you may have to go to Settings and reinstall certain drivers for your hardware. How can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?

Your assumption is incorrect, Vista is NOT the problem, period. Yahoo Messenger runs on any well maintained version of XP, Vista, and Windows 7, without a single glitch. The REAL reason, I suspect, is your PC is infested with Malware.

And, switching from one OS to the other will not make a 'lick of difference', but, a full Vista Clean Install, or, Vista Recovery, will remove all Malware. Then, YIM will work EXACTLY as it should.

TIP: Read your PC's User Manual to learn how to BURN your Vista Recovery Disks, and, how to return it to %26quot;Factory New%26quot; condition. How can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?
Yahoo Messenger should run on Vista without an issues. I suspect the problem is with the MEssage install, not with Vista.

If you want to switch to XP, you will need to start by purchasing a copy of XP. Around $150. Microsoft no longer makes or sells XP, so good like finding a copy.

Because the switch from Vista to XP is considered by Microsoft to be a downgrade, the installer will not let you do that. You have to first remove Vista by deleting the partition that holds it, creating a new one, and formatting it with NTFS. This will permanently wipe all your data (music, pictures, videos, documents, saved e-mails, etc.) and all your installed programs.

You will also need to confirm that there are XP drivers for your computer before you consider the change to XP. Otherwise you will not have audio, good video, network connection, etc, once the conversion is done.

It might be easier to detail the issues you are having with Messenger and we may be able to tell you how to resolve the issue. You might also want to try a free program called Trillium which allows you to access Yahoo Messenger as well as AOL, MSN, and a couple other messengers all at the same time from a single program. That would allow you to use Yahoo Messenger without having to install the actual program. How can I change Vista operating system to Windows Xp?
