think it is gone forever. If you blanked the drive to install Vista and I would imagine you did as part of the install procedure, then the only option is to look to use some data retrieval tools which might pull back some data. But wait I hear you say, does not vista give you the option of storing all the data from your previous O/S in a folder on Vista. yeah aslong as you didn't do a clean install, and format your hard drive first. Vista would have put all your files and and XP into a folder called Windows.old on your main Hard drive or partition. ie.
