How can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. (i have the xp disc)?

If you install xp on a computer that is built for vista you are downgrading your computer, and its time consuming finding the right sound card driversHow can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. (i have the xp disc)?
You will have to reinstall. This will reformat the disk and wipe out everything, so back up your stuff first.

MS does make it possible to upgrade from XP to Vista, but they never wrote the downgrade program.

You could make a dual-boot system. This involves taking some of the free space on your hard drive (30Gb to be safe) and makes a separate logical disk to install Vista on. Then, when you boot, you will have the choice of which one to use.

This involves some surgery, and you still need to back up your stuff just in case. How can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. (i have the xp disc)?
You can't just CHANGE it. You could format your harddisk and make a clean and fresh installation of XP. But keep in mind:

- All your settings and files are lost after formatting, so make a backup first!

- You could have problems to find XP device drivers for your hardware. Check it first!

Back up all your files, and then insert the XP disc into the CD-ROM. There should pop up an option to install XP. You can also restart your computer with the XP cd inside, and reformat your computer from the BIOS. This will delete all of your data though. How can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. As with all Microsoft products you can not downgrade an OS. Format your hard drive and install XP but, remember that Microsoft support for XP will end in 2011.How can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. (i have the xp disc)?
First thing you'll want to do is make sure your computer hardware has XP drivers available or else some of the important hardware will no longer work. like your video card, sound card, network card, etc...

Then the easiest way is to just format your hard drive:

Stick the XP disk in, boot to CD, delete the partition, quick format NTFS, and let it load a fresh copy.

Also make sure you have a valid XP cd key or it will not install.

oh yea if you have anything you'll want to keep, make sure you back it up first :o)How can i change my operating system FROM vista to XP. (i have the xp disc)?
Easy thing to do firstly make sure you have all the XP versions of your drivers for your hardware thats your soundcard, graphics card, motherboard drivers (things like chipset drivers, eithernet controller drivers etc) and any other hardware devices also back up all your stuff as you will reformat your hard drive losing everything on it

Simply put the XP disc in the drive and reboot the PC the PC should read the disc and ask you to press any key to boot from it, if it does not then you need to go to your BIOS and set the boot order and put CD/DVD drive first that way it will look at your drive first.

After that simply follow instructions and accpet the licence agreement then you would delete the vista partition (it will warn you that there is an OS on it but overide it) and simply create a new XP one then thats it it will format the disk and copy files over the whoel thing shoudl take about 40 miniutes to an hour to do
